Credit unions, get ready to line your lobbies with paper hearts! The Minnesota Credit Unions for Kids (MnCU4Kids) Committee is inviting you to participate in its 2014 Chain of Hearts campaign.

The Chain of Hearts is a statewide fundraiser that will run from Jan. 13 - Feb. 28, 2014. All proceeds benefit Gillette Children's Hospital, which helps kids with disabilities and chronic conditions. Gillette is based in St. Paul, with numerous clinics around the state.

To participate in Chain of Hearts, credit union members purchase paper links and hearts that are connected and hung in lobbies to help illustrate the "people helping people" philosophy of credit unions. Last year was one of the most successful for this fundraiser, with the committee raising more than $42,000. Committee members hope to do the same this year, bumping up the fundraising target to $50,000. You can help us beat this goal!

Chain of Hearts is an extremely simple fundraising event that is available to your credit union at no cost! Each participating credit union will receive the following materials for free:

To participate or to ask questions, please contact Becky Holst by December 20. Please note in your email:

In 2013, Minnco CU raised a record-breaking $17,413.00 by combining the Chain of Hearts with a "Miracle Monday" campaign. On Miracle Mondays, the staff dressed to promote a theme, and members vote for their favorite costume. In addition, Minnco received a $10,000 matching grant from Financial Co-Op.

SharePoint Credit Union
had 100% staff participation in its 2013 Chain of Hearts Campaign. SharePoint employs 47 staff in its three metro locations in Andover, St. Louis Park and Burnsville. SharePoint also acknowledged the "Top Teller" who solicited the most members donations, and that was Kate Donlin (a.k.a. Ginger). In total, SharePoint staff and members raised $740 for the Chain of Hearts campaign. Tara Johnson was the Campaign Coordinator. Our gratitude and congratulations to Tara, Kate, and all the SharePoint staff. You're fantastic!
